Hello,
Every day I realize how essential it is to be surrounded by people who are important to me.
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June 2016 and had a double mastectomy in July 2016. The best news I heard after the surgery was that the cancer cells were limited to the mass area of the breast and did not spread to any of the lymph nodes. I finished in December 2016 with the reconstructive surgery and healing well.
I will be walking 39 miles over two days in May as a participant in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, DC. I am honored to be walking with thousands of others who have made the same courageous commitment: to help raise awareness and funding for this devastating disease.
The Avon Foundation awards money raised from this event for:
- Research the possible causes, prevention, treatment and cure of breast cancer
- Medical care for breast cancer patients
- Support services for patients and their families
- Educational seminars
- Early detection programs
Your donation will benefit the whole picture - cause, cure, care and support.

I feel my positive attitude, strength, and fighting spirit were a huge reason for this victory. One of the things I discovered as I was going through my own cancer experience is that I am blessed with an amazing circle of family, friends and colleagues. I saw this over and over as so many people offered me their love and support. This event is one way that I can give some of that support back to those who need it now.
Thank you for your generous support.
With my love and gratitude,
Jillian “Jillian Strong”
